Judge Mia Wortham Spells is a graduate of Wilberforce University and the University of Dayton School of Law. On November 3, 2015, Judge Wortham Spells was elected Judge of the Dayton Municipal Court. Judge Wortham Spells began her legal career as a City of Dayton Assistant Prosecutor. In 1993, Judge Wortham Spells opened a community-based law firm. While in private practice, she handled criminal, traffic, civil and domestic relations cases. Her service to the community includes: Wilberforce Alumni Association; Thurgood Marshall Law Society; National Council of Negro Women; National Bar Association; NAACP; SCLC; and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Dayton Alumnae Chapter.
