Dr. P. E. Henderson, Jr. is the pastor of The Corinthian Baptist Church and Moderator of the Miami Valley Baptist District Association. He was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He began preaching at the age of 16. He was licensed and ordained under the guidance of his father, the late Rev. P. E. Henderson, Sr.
Dr. Henderson is a graduate of Central State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, Kentucky with a Master of Divinity Degree and received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary of Dayton, Ohio. He also attended Wright State University and Sinclair Community College. He is the author of “The Black Church Credit Union”.
Pastor Henderson has preached and lectured at several colleges and seminary campuses such as, Central State University, Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, Payne Theological Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio, United Theological Seminary, Oklahoma Baptist Institute, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Decorah Lutheran College, Decorah, Iowa and Wright State University. God has blessed him to preach in the National Baptist Convention, Ohio Baptist State Convention, Cincinnati Baptist District Association, and many of our major black pulpits throughout the nation. In the spring of 1996, he served as Adjunct Professor of Baptist History and Polity at United Theological Seminary. He was selected to serve on the Board of Trustees of Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio.
The Dayton Urban League recognized him as the 2005 Star in the Field of Religion. He has received other rewards from universities, civic and religious organizations. Pastor Henderson, along with 235 religious leaders across the nation was invited in 2000 to The White House to confer with former President Clinton.
He has served in the following positions: Dean of Congress Cincinnati Baptist District Association, Advisory Board for Pastoral Consultation, Miami Valley Hospital, Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the Ohio Baptist State Convention, Education Committee Local Chapter of NAACP, Faculty member of the National Baptist Congress (25 years), Advisory Board of National Black Churches, Board Member of Metropolitan Churches United, Board Member St. Joseph Home for Children, President of Dayton Baptist Minister’s Union, Board Member of Montgomery County Human Services and Corresponding Secretary of the National Baptist BTU Board. Recently, he served as Co-Chairperson of the Dayton Urban League’s Community Capital Campaign “Access to Success,” and is presently a Board Member on the local chapter of the United Way. Member of Trustee Board of Payne Theological Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio.
He has one son, Rev. P. E. Henderson, III and 3 grandchildren.
